Artist Statements
My artwork Darkness is based on Maleficent. In the middle top of the page is her thorns and in the background was supposed to be the thorn forest.
To create my artwork I first mapped it out on the page before adding watercolor paint to give it value.
I was inspired to create this piece by Joe Roth the producer of the live action 2014 version of Maleficent. This piece represents a social matter about the evil and hate in many peoples hearts and how their hate as corrupted them and trapping them with no way out.
My goal of a artist is to create a amazing piece everyone loves and understands which is why I picked Maleficent for my subject matter. However since I messed up with the thorn forest and the watercolor paint I didn't reach my goal. Though I'm not gonna give up and will do better next time.
I learned taking my time and observing every detail is the only way to ensure my piece ends up a success. Since I didn't take my time and took better consideration in what I was doing I messed up the thorn forest making the water color blend in to areas it wasn't supposed to be in. Therefore my piece didn't turn out how I hoped it would. This piece helps me strive to do better next time.
My clay project is of a Lantern. The title of my artwork is The big tree.I used balance unity and shape.
I used Clay to form the lantern shape and a red roll of paper to help with forming a cylinder shape for the lantern ,then I used some of the tools to carve my design in,
While searching through the web I found a lantern I really liked so I used that idea while adding my touch to it.
My goal as a artist is to create a beautiful and cool piece everyone would like.Since im not used to using clay like that I feel my piece could of been better as I did mess up while carving but I did try to fix it though Im not sure Im it still looks good. This piece didn't reach or help me to reach my goal but I hope my next project does as my charcoal piece did and I want to make a even better piece that beats the charcoal piece.
I learned while creating the lantern that I have to go slow while carving or I will mess up.This piece is okay but could be much better I took a risk with the lantern instead of doing a tiki which I am used to doing and it didn't turn out like I wanted.
My artwork looks bad in my opinion. The title of my piece is shattered emotions.
I used Prisma colors to create tis piece. I first thought about what I should do that shows a meaning then sketched it out. Then I use some Prisma colors to try to make it come to life.
While searching for a suitable idea that could represent a meaning I found a image online with a girl standing infront of a shattered mirror and it seemed like she was being shattered herself. Since all my other ideas seemed like they weren't really gonna work and I was taking to long to decide I decided to try this and add alittle something else to represent the meaning I wanted to go for. This meaning wasn't personal as I don't like to express my emotions like that so this was meant to be a social meaning about emotions and freedom in a way.
My goal as a artist is to always grow and become a better artist and to take risks. I want to be able to draw without looking at an image which was the problem for this piece. I had a lot of ideas but didn't know how to make them come alive In ther words this piece did not help me reach my goal
I learned I need to actually take the risk even if it doesn't work out like I planned I need to stick with it and hope for the best.
My charcoal piece is of a puppy I found online. The elements an principles I used was contrast value and line. I decided to make this piece of a puppy because this one reminded me of a puppy I used to own when I was little before we had to give her away because I was too young and couldn't handle how rough she played. This also shows my love towards animals.
The media is made of Charcoal and I used vine ,compressed charcoal and charcoal pencil to create this piece. What I did first was sketch it out on the paper I was given then I grabbed a vine charcoal pencil to shade the background and in some areas inside of the puppy.Next I grabbed a compressed charcoal to shade in the darker areas and finally I used a charcoal pencil to add the detail like the eyes and the fur.
My goal as a artist is to develop my art skill and take bigger risks and make my pieces even better. This piece did help with my goal as it is my best piece so far.
I learned taking my time and mapping out my ideas in my head is the only way that will ensure my piece turns out the way I wanted. I also learned that I need to take risks.in my art work to better my skill. This piece turned out better than I had imagined.
This piece depicts Ezra Scarlet from one of my anime shows. You can see her head and her fist coming up to the screen, her sword behind it and the wings to her armor in the background. The title I chose for this piece is Strength because Ezra is strong and practically fearless. She never gives in while in battle she keeps fighting no matter what.
This piece was created using watercolor paint.I started out by mapping my subject matter and then used a flat brush to make the wash, next i built up some layers and lastly using the wet on wet technique in order to blend two colors together to get a darker one.
My goal for this piece were again to beat my other piece.I think I most likely completed this goal while again it wasnt finished.Im not great with pain so I didnt love the media nor did I believe I did a great job with it.
Overall I believe this piece was a success though I messed up in a few places I was able to fix it and make a good piece.
